Yossi Sassi
Yossi Sassi, born February 5, 1975 and raised in Petah Tikva, Israel, is a
guitarist and producer known for pioneering oriental rock. He started playing
the flute at age seven and later took up the guitar. At 14, he began intensive
practice, eventually dropping out of high school to focus on his band Orphaned
Land. In 1992, they released their demo The Beloved's Cry, blending Middle
Eastern elements with metal music. The band gained traction with albums like
Sahara (1994) and El Norra Alila (1996), leading to a signing with Century Media
