Wolf Biermann
Wolf Biermann, born Karl Wolf Biermann on November 15, 1936, in Hamburg,
Germany, is a singer-songwriter and lyricist. His father, Dagobert Biermann, was
murdered in Auschwitz during World War II. In 1953, at the age of 16, Wolf
Biermann moved to East Germany (DDR) and began his musical career. He initially
gained attention with his first album Wolf Biermann (Ost) released in 1965.
Despite facing a ban on performances and publications in 1965 due to his
critical stance against the SED, Biermann continued to release albums like
