William Beckett is an American singer and songwriter who was born in Hoffman
Estates, Illinois, U.S., in 1985. He achieved early professional recognition in
2003 after forming the rock ensemble The Academy Is... and is famous for serving
as the band's lead vocalist and primary lyricist. Before co-founding the group
with the guitarist Mike Carden, he performed in the acoustic ensemble Remember
Maine, which released the studio recording The Last Place You Look (2002). With
