William Edward Davison, known as Wild Bill Davison, was born on January 5, 1906, in Defiance, Ohio. He emerged as a jazz cornetist in the 1920s, playing alongside Muggsy Spanier and Frank Teschemacher in a cover band that performed Louis Armstrong's music. His breakthrough came in the 1940s when he gained wider recognition. Davison is best known for his collaboration with bandleader Eddie Condon, with whom he worked and recorded from the mid-1940s until Condon's last concert at the New School for Social Research in April 1972.
