Walter "Wolfman" Washington, born on December 20, 1943, in New Orleans,
Louisiana, was an American singer and guitarist. He started his career playing
with Lee Dorsey's band as a teenager. In the 1970s, he joined Johnny Adams'
band, performing live and on records for two decades while also working as a
solo artist. He signed with Rounder Records in 1985, releasing Wolf Tracks
(1986) and Out of the Dark (1988). Washington collaborated frequently with
organist Joe Krown and drummer Russell Batiste Jr., performing at the Maple Leaf
