Viviane Bowman, known professionally as Vickie Winans, was born on October 18,
1953, in Detroit, Michigan. She started her musical career at a young age,
joining the choir at International Gospel Center and forming a gospel group
during her teenage years. Winans released her debut album, Be Encouraged, in
