Turin Brakes is a British duo formed in 1999 in Balham, South London, by Olly
Knights and Gale Paridjanian, childhood friends and multi-instrumentalists,
whose music oscillates between acoustic folk, melodic pop and alternative rock,
carried by delicate vocal harmonies and introspective songwriting. Revealed in
the early 2000s with their debut album The Optimist LP (2001), hailed for its
