Trout Fishing in America is an American musical duo from Houston, Texas, formed by Keith Grimwood and Ezra Idlet. Both musicians were previously part of the folk rock band St. Elmo's Fire. They took their name from Richard Brautigan’s novel Trout Fishing in America. After St. Elmo's Fire disbanded in 1979, they began performing as Trout Fishing in America, releasing the debut album You Bore Me to Death! (1979) through their own label, Trout Records.
