Tony Pabon
Tony Pabon, born José Antonio Pabón on March 6, 1939, in San Juan, Puerto Rico,
was a singer and bandleader. Raised in the Bronx, New York City, Pabon's career
took off with the release of "Pete's Boogaloo", a tribute to Pete Rodriguez that
became one of the first boogaloo tracks played on the radio. His other
well-known track was the mambo "El Capitan" from the album La Protesta. He
passed away on January 21, 2014.
