Thomas Adès
Thomas Joseph Edmund Adès, born March 1, 1971, in London, England, is an English
composer, conductor, and pianist. He studied piano under Paul Berkowitz and
composition under Robert Saxton at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama
before continuing his composition studies under Alexander Goehr and Robin
Holloway at King's College, Cambridge, from 1989 to 1992. He served as composer
in residence for the Hallé Orchestra from 1993 to 1995 and was appointed
professor of composition at the Royal Academy of Music in 1998. He served as
