The Twisters
The Twisters were a Canadian blues group formed in 1994 in North Vancouver,
British Columbia, by harmonica player David “Hurricane” Hoerl and drummer Sandy
Smith, with bassist Pete Turland and guitarist Greg “Junior” Demchuk. Their
breakthrough came with the 2002 release of Long Hard Road, which earned a Juno
nomination and the Canadian Independent Music Awards title of Best Blues Album
of the Year. The band followed with After the Storm in 2006 and Come Out
Swingin’ in 2009, the latter receiving nominations at the Western Canadian Music
