Originally meeting in their native Dublin, Ireland, Danny O'Donoghue and Mark
Sheehan became members of the four-piece group MyTown in 1996. The band achieved
some success in the UK and Ireland but struggled amid the growing number of boy
bands entering the market. O'Donoghue and Sheehan's songwriting partnership had
already attracted attention, however, and after MyTown dissolved, the pair
travelled to Canada and the US to work with producers and artists including
