The Rumour were an English pub rock cum new wave band, formed in 1976 with musicians from disbanded pub rock groups including Brinsley Schwarz and Ducks Deluxe. The group consisted of Bob Andrews on keyboards, Brinsley Schwarz on guitar, Martin Belmont on guitar, Andrew Bodnar on bass, and Stephen Goulding on drums. They debuted as Graham Parker's backing band on his 1976 album Howlin' Wind. In 1977, the Rumour released their first independent album, Max, followed by Frogs, Sprouts, Clogs and Krauts in 1979.
