The Fairfield Four, an American gospel group, originated in 1921 at the Fairfield Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee. The initial trio consisted of J.R. Carrethers' sons Rufus and Harold, along with their neighbor John Battle. Their first recording session was held in 1946 at Nashville's Bullet Records. The group gained national recognition after winning a contest that led to an appearance on WLAC radio station in 1942.
