Terry Gilkyson was an American folk singer and songwriter born Hamilton Henry
Gilkyson on June 17, 1916, in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. He attended St.
George's School in Rhode Island and served in the United States Army Air Forces
during World War II. In 1947, he married Jane Haughton and relocated to
California to begin a career as a folk singer. He wrote the track "The Cry of
the Wild Goose", which became a hit recording for Frankie Laine in 1950. In
