Stian Carstensen, born on January 5, 1971, in Eidsvoll, Norway, is a Norwegian
multi-instrumentalist and composer. He began playing the accordion at age nine,
initially learning from his father before studying with a classical player for
four years. In 1991, he enrolled in the Jazz Program at the Trondheim
Musikkonservatorium, where he formed the Balkan-jazz orchestra Farmers Market.
The group gained recognition with their album Speed/Balkan/Boogie (1995),
