Stephen Layton
Stephen Layton, born Stephen David Layton on December 23, 1966, in Derby,
England, is an English conductor. Layton served as a chorister at Winchester
Cathedral and studied at Eton College before attending King's College,
Cambridge, as an organ scholar under Stephen Cleobury. While at Cambridge,
Layton founded the mixed-voice choir Polyphony in 1986. Layton was appointed
musical director of the Holst Singers in 1993, chief conductor of the
Netherlands Chamber Choir in 1999, director of music at Trinity College,
