Sloan Wainwright, born in 1957, is an American musician known for her contralto
voice and a musical style that combined folk, rock, jazz, and blues. She
developed her songwriting skills while performing in Greenwich Village, New York
City. In the mid-1990s, Wainwright collaborated with guitarist Stephen Murphy to
form a band, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1996. In 1998, she
