Carole Theresa East, known professionally as Sister Carol, was born in 1959 in
Jamaica and is a reggae singer and actress. She grew up in Denham Town,
Kingston, where her father worked as an engineer for Radio Jamaica and Studio
One. In 1973, she moved to Brooklyn, New York, with her family. Sister Carol
began her music career by participating in talent contests and performing in
clubs, encouraged by Brigadier Jerry. Her album, Liberation for Africa, was
