Michelle Yvette Lares (performing as Shelly Lares; born November 13, 1971) is an
American Tejano and country singer-songwriter, guitarist, and percussionist from
San Antonio, Texas. Lares founded The New Generation Band in 1985 with cousin
Tony Lares. In 1986, Lares signed with Manny Records, releasing the debut album
Tú solo tú (1989). Lares received thirteen consecutive nominations for Female
Vocalist of the Year at the Tejano Music Awards beginning in 1984. In 1996,
