Ruggiero Eugenio di Rodolfo Colombo, known as Russ Columbo, was born on January
14, 1908 in Camden, New Jersey. He began playing violin at a young age and made
his professional debut at 13. By 1928, Columbo started participating in motion
pictures and joined Gus Arnheim and His Orchestra. In 1931, he moved to New York
City with manager Con Conrad, securing a late-night radio slot with NBC and a
