Roy Smeck was an American musician born as Leroy George Alfred Smeck on 6
February 1900 in Reading, Pennsylvania. He achieved professional recognition as
the “Wizard of the Strings” for his proficiency on the banjo, guitar, and
ukulele. Smeck began his career in vaudeville and achieved professional
recognition for the innovative use of instruments including the octachord and
