Roshan Lal Nagrath (14 July 1917 – 16 November 1967), known mononymously as
Roshan, was an Indian esraj player and Hindustani classical and folk music
director from Gujranwala. Nagrath studied at Marris College under Pandit S N
Ratanjankar and learned sarod from Allauddin Khan. He served as a staff artist
for All India Radio Delhi until 1948, when he moved to Bombay to work as an
assistant for Khawaja Khurshid Anwar. Nagrath’s recording career included the
score for the film Baawre Nain (1950) and compositions for Malhar (1951),
