Roger Bourdin was a French flautist and teacher who was born as Roger Jules
Bourdin in Mulhouse, France, in 1923. He achieved professional recognition in
1939 after receiving a first prize in flute at the Paris Conservatoire and is
famous for his three Grand Prix du Disque and for performing the flute solo on
the 1968 hit “Il est cinq heures, Paris s'éveille”. Bourdin studied under Marcel
Moyse and held a first prize in harmony from the Versailles Conservatory (1941),
