Rodney Jones, born on August 30, 1956, in New Haven, Connecticut, is an American
jazz guitarist. Jones is known for his use of modern quartal harmony and has
worked with artists such as Jaki Byard and Chico Hamilton, Dizzy Gillespie, Lena
Horne, and Ruth Brown. Jones' breakthrough came with his debut album The
Liberation of Contemporary Jazz Guitar released in 1977 on Strata-East Records.
