Robert Uno Normann was born on June 27, 1916, in Borge, Østfold, Norway. He was
a guitarist known for his contributions to jazz. He began performing as a street
and backyard musician at age 12 and was a professional by 1937. He became one of
the swing era's most sought-after guitar soloists in Norway and was a pioneer of
the electric guitar. He performed with jazz groups including those led by Freddy
Valier, String Swing, Gunnar Due, and the Pete Brown Big Band. In 1988, his jazz
