Richard Shindell, born on August 3, 1960 in Lakehurst, New Jersey is an American singer-songwriter. His career began with the release of his debut album Sparrows Point in 1992. In 1997, Joan Baez recorded three of Shindell's songs—"Fishing", "Reunion Hill", and "Money for Floods"—for her album Gone from Danger, which boosted his career. This led to an invitation to join Baez’s 1997–1998 tour. Shindell collaborated with Dar Williams and Lucy Kaplansky to form the group Cry Cry Cry, releasing their eponymous album in 1998.
