Richard Fields, known professionally as Richard "Dimples" Fields, was born on
March 21, 1942, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He began his singing career in the
early 1970s after moving to Oakland, California, where he headlined at the Cold
Duck Music Lounge. Fields started recording for his own DRK label before signing
with Boardwalk Records in 1981. His breakthrough single "If It Ain't One Thing,
It's Another" reached Number 1 for three weeks on the US Billboard R&B chart and
