Michael Anthony Maida, born 18 February 1970 in Weston, Ontario, is a Canadian
singer, songwriter and guitarist best known as the lead vocalist of the
alternative rock band Our Lady Peace. After studying criminology at the
University of Toronto and attending Ridley College, Raine Maida co‑founded
Our Lady Peace in 1992 with guitarist Mike Turner, and the duo released their
debut Naveed in 1994. The band achieved mainstream success with Clumsy (1997)
and Happiness… Is Not a Fish That You Can Catch (1999), the latter producing the
