Prudence Johnson (born c. 1952) is an American folk and jazz singer from Moose
Lake, Minnesota. Johnson graduated from Hamline University before co-founding
the vocal jazz trio Rio Nido in the early 1970s. The group recorded three
albums, including I Like to Riff (1978) and Voicings (1986). Johnson began a
solo career with the album Little Dreamer (1984), which received a Grammy Award
nomination in 1992. Subsequent solo recordings include Vocals (1987), Songs of
