Phyllis Dillon, born on December 27, 1944, in Linstead, St. Catherine, Jamaica,
was a Jamaican singer known for her contributions to rocksteady and reggae
music. Influenced by American singers, Phyllis Dillon began singing in talent
contests before being discovered by Duke Reid's session guitarist Lynn Taitt.
Her first recording, "Don’t Stay Away", released in 1967 for Duke Reid’s
Treasure Isle label, marked the start of her career. Throughout the late 1960s
