Penelope Houston, born on December 17, 1958 in Los Angeles, California, is an
American singer. She grew up in Seattle and attended Fairhaven College in
Bellingham, Washington. In 1977, she moved to San Francisco where she joined the
punk band The Avengers. Houston's solo career began in 1988 with the release of
her debut folk album Birdboys. Over the next decade, she released several
albums, including Silk Purse (from a Sows Ear) (1993) and Crazy Baby (1994). In
