English singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist specializing in "blue-eyed
soul", Paul Carrack was born in Sheffield on April 22, 1961. A member of the
bands Warm Dust, Ace, Squeeze, Roxy Music and Mike + the Mechanics, with whom he
scored a number of hits and won recognition from peers and critics alike, he
embarked on a solo career in 1980 with the album The Nightbird, accompanying
