Novalis was a German rock band formed in 1971, named after the poet Novalis. The
group originated from Hamburg and initially consisted of Jürgen Wenzel, Heino
Schünzel, Lutz Rahn, and Hartwig Biereichel. They began by placing an
advertisement in the Hamburger Abendblatt seeking members, which led to the
formation of Mosaik, later renamed Novalis. Their debut album, Banished Bridge,
was released in 1973. The following year, guitarist Detlef Job joined while
Wenzel left, with Schünzel and Job taking over vocals. In 1975, they
