Natacha Atlas
Born in Brussels in 1964 to an Egyptian father and English mother, Natacha Atlas
grew up in a multi-cultural environment, which she sought to develop through
music. Settling in Great Britain after a stint as an oriental dancer, she
experimented with the dub-electro fusion concocted by Jah Wobble with Invaders
of the Heart (1993), then joined the electro-oriental collective Transglobal
Underground. In 1995, the singer began her personal journey with a hit album,
Diaspora, followed by a modern tribute to Arab singing star Abdel Halim Hafez.
