Moti Special is a multinational synth-pop band that was formed in Hamburg in
1981. The founding members are Manfred “Tissy” Thiers (vocalist/bassist),
Michael Cretu (keyboardist), Reinhard “Dicky” Tarrach (drummer), and the Dane
Nils Tuxen (guitarist). The name comes from a spicy Indian dish that singer
Manfred “Tissy” Thiers ate at a London restaurant. Although the band was formed
in 1981, commercial success didn’t come until the mid-1980s. Their biggest hits
are the songs “Cold Days, Hot Nights” and “Don’t Be So Shy,” both of which
