Melanie Martinez, born Melanie Adele Martinez on April 28 1995 in Astoria,
Queens, New York, began songwriting in kindergarten before teaching herself
guitar at fourteen. Her breakthrough came after competing on The Voice in 2012,
where she performed "Toxic" and later signed with Atlantic Records, releasing
the single "Dollhouse" in February 2014 and the self‑titled EP in May 2014. In
August 2015 she launched her debut studio album Cry Baby, which debuted at
number 6 on the Billboard 200 and was later certified double platinum; singles
