Masataka Matsutoya, born on November 19, 1951 in Japan, is a composer, producer,
arranger, and musician. He began his career as a background musician for Takuro
Yoshida's album "Ningen nante" in 1971. In 1973, Matsutoya formed the group
Caramel Mama with Haruomi Hosono, Shigeru Suzuki, and Tateo Hayashi, which later
evolved into Tin Pan Alley. He married singer-songwriter Yumi Arai (later known
as Yumi Matsutoya) in 1976. In 1982, he won first prize for arrangement at the
FNS Music Festival. Notable albums include Endless Flight (1977) and Seaside
