Martin Drew
Martin Drew, born 11 February 1944 in Northampton, England, was an English jazz
drummer who began playing the drums at six and performed professionally by
thirteen after studying with George Fierstone. He joined Oscar Peterson’s
quartet in 1974 and remained a sideman until 2007, while also being a regular
member of Ronnie Scott’s band from 1975 to 1995, performing at Ronnie Scott’s
Jazz Club with many visiting American musicians. In 2000, he formed the
Celebrating The Jazz Couriers quintet, which won the 2002 British Jazz Award for
