Marta Kubišová is a Czech singer born on November 1, 1942, in České Budějovice,
Czech Republic. She reached the finals of the talent competition Hledáme nové
talenty in 1961. Kubišová won the Zlatý slavík award in 1967, 1969, and 1970.
Her song "Modlitba pro Martu" became a symbol of national resistance during the
Prague Spring of 1968. She released her debut album Songy a balady in 1969,
