Marina Lambrini Diamandis was born on October 10, 1985 in Brynmawr (Wales) and
grew up partly in Abergavenny. After moving to London, she began her career in
2005 on Myspace as Marina and the Diamonds, later performing simply as Marina.
The genre can be categorized as indie-pop and electro-pop. Her debut album The
Family Jewels was released in 2010 and reached number 5 in the British album
charts; it was certified gold in the UK. Singles from the album include
