Marek Michał Grechuta (10 December 1945 – 9 October 2006) was a Polish singer,
songwriter, composer, and pianist born in Zamość. While studying architecture in
Kraków, he co-founded the band Anawa with Jan Kanty Pawluśkiewicz in 1967,
marking the beginning of his professional music career. His debut album, Marek
Grechuta & Anawa (1970), established him as one of Poland's leading
singer-songwriters, while Korowód (1971) became one of the most influential
