Mandrake
Mandrake, a German gothic metal band from Emden, East Frisia, was formed by Lutz
de Putter in 1996. The band's name is derived from the Latin name of the
Mandragora officinarum mandrake plant, which are said to give eternal life.
Mandrake released their debut album, Forever, in 1998 with guest musicians.
Birgit Lau joined as a background singer in 1999, gradually taking on more vocal
duties. After various line-up changes, Mandrake signed with Prophecy Productions
in 2003 and released Calm the Seas, followed by The Balance of Blue (2005) and
