Lycia, an American darkwave band, was formed in 1988 in Tempe, Arizona by Mike
VanPortfleet. The group's main personnel included Tara VanFlower and David
Galas. Lycia began as a solo project by VanPortfleet, who released the demo tape
Wake in 1989. Their first full-length album, Ionia, was released in 1991 under
Projekt Records. In 1993, they followed up with A Day in the Stark Corner. Lycia
achieved notable success with their 1995 album The Burning Circle and Then Dust,
