Luis Enrique Mejía Godoy, born February 19, 1945, in Somoto, Nicaragua, is a
musician, composer, and songwriter. His father was a musician, and his brother
Carlos Mejía Godoy also became renowned in music. Mejía Godoy formed his first
group during secondary school in León and moved to Costa Rica in 1965 to begin
studying medicine, but he abandoned his studies in 1969 to pursue music
full-time. He started his solo career with the release of Hilachas de sol
