Linda Jones, born on December 14, 1944, in Newark, New Jersey, is an American
singer known for her soulful voice with a strong gospel influence. She began
singing at six as part of her family's gospel group, the Jones Singers. Her
first recording, "Lonely Teardrops", was released under the name Linda Lane on
Cub Records in 1963. Producer George Kerr introduced her to Loma Records, where
she achieved her breakthrough with "Hypnotized" in 1967. This ballad reached
