Born in Sarcelles on April 4, 1979, Leïla Chicot draws much of her inspiration
from the musical heritage of the French West Indies. Brought up in a family of
Guadeloupean and Martiniquean origin, Leïla Chicot began singing as a child.
After her family returned to the West Indies, she was elected Miss Carnaval in
1996. She went on to release her first album with her group Double Jeu, which
she formed alongside Christian Nara, Flam' (1996). The duo's zouk proved a big
hit with the public, enough for Leïla Chicot to develop a taste for show
business and decide to give up her studies...
