La Vela Puerca is a Uruguayan rock band formed in Montevideo in December 1995,
first appearing under that name at a street party on December 24 of that year.
The group grew around Sebastián Teysera (lead vocals, songs), Sebastián Cebreiro
(vocals), Nicolás Lieutier (bass), Rafael Di Bello and Santiago Butler
(guitars), and Carlos Quijano (sax), later adding Alejandro Picone on trumpet
and José Canedo on drums, with Diego Méndez as a touring keyboardist. A 1996
band contest gave them studio time that helped lead to the debut album Deskarado
