La Castañeda, a Mexican rock band originating from Mexico City, was formed in
1989 by Edmundo Ortega, Alberto Rosas, and Osvaldo de León. The group's name is
derived from the historic La Castañeda psychiatric hospital. Their debut album,
Servicios Generales, was released in 1989 under Rock and Roll Circus. In 1993,
they signed with BMG/Culebra, re-releasing their debut as Servicios Generales II
with additional tracks. Subsequent albums included El Globo Negro: Locus Niger
