Kenneth David Whiteley, known as Ken Whiteley, was born on April 30, 1951 in
Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. He began playing guitar at age twelve and started his
music career performing folk music in the early 1970s. In 1965, he formed the
Original Sloth Band with his older brother Chris Whiteley and clarinettist Tom
Evens. The trio recorded three albums and performed at various festivals,
